October board minutes were approved.
Roxanne W. led discussion about sign in sheets and how to make better use of sign in sheet for meetings for following up with guests and to help with retaining new members. Agreed that having a sign in sheet with all club members listed and a separate sheet for guests to sign in would be beneficial both from a membership standpoint and from a liability standpoint. Roxanne W. volunteered Rob W. to generate sign in sheets each month for the club meetings. Rob W. is signed up for life or until he finds a replacement. Bob S. also agreed to help Rob with the sign in sheet.
Roxanne W. discussed progress with the legislature on the Ohio homebrew bill. Roxanne is drafting a reduced set of talking points. When completed, Bryan E. is to include in newsletter and forward to the club.
Bockfest – 1621 Moore Street, Late February/Early March. Exact date is TBD. Get brewing!
Ray G. led discussion on club direction. Focused on ideas for retaining membership. Key items discussed:
- Continue to encourage members to volunteer at beerfests and homebrew competitions
- Better job of announcing brewouts and encouraging people to attend even if they aren’t brewing
- Club annoucements: get in habit of announcing several months in advance when known. Be more detailed in description so new members and guests have better understanding of events.
- “Who’s Brewing?” annoucements at Listermann’s and on website to let club members know if someone is brewing and would welcome guests. Doug L. volunteered to be contact for notifying Listermann’s of anyone who is brewing.
- Content for technical presentations for new members?
- Better job of asking new and seasoned members what they would like to see for monthly meetings.
- Feedback
Roxanne W. agreed to lead a club presentation on how to enter your beer in a competition. Signed up for the July 2012 club meeting.
Beer and Sweat: Next year is last year for current group running the competition. Need a new group to take it on for the next three years. First call for volunteers.
Meeting adjourned at 8:38 PM.
Overheard at meeting:
“I’m just volunteering, it doesn’t mean I’m going to do it.” Bob Stephenson
