February Board Meeting Minutes
February 6, BBL Board Meeting, Dick Mahiques Residence

Postponed approval of January Board Minutes as they had not been published yet until next meeting.
Future Board Meeting Dates/Locations: March – Ray G. (Delhi), April – Mark B. (East Side), May – Rob & Roxanne W. (Colerain TWP)
Roxanne W: reminded about Moerlein Lager House Opening – BBL reps will be there to march in opening parade with BBL flag. Cost to participate in the event is $150/person ($90 is tax deductible) with benefactor being Cincy Parks. If you want to join, get your tickets and let Rob/Roxanne know you’ll be there.
Andy M: Feb meeting with Rick Armon is all set. He will be there with books to sell and sign. Andy to send reminder email to members to bring one bottle of homebrew (labeled with style and brewer name) to donate to Rick as a thank you. BBL board also moved to present Rick with a BBL membership for 2012 so that he may join us at future events, specifically Beer and Sweat in August.
Phil M: 1024 filing for tax-exempt status is mostly ready. Phil to file with 2011 info and estimated date for prior years. Needs to be filed before end of Feb (due to 60 day limit from prior tax year). Phil also checked with Vorhees (law firm) regarding review of the filing and any related charges for them to perform the review. Board agreed to wait to hear from Vorhees if it’s reviewable within our budget, and to decide at later date (soon) on further action.
Membership Classes – Reviewed and reiterated that we have family and also individual memberships within the club. The club officially had over 500 members in 2011.
Membership Applications – Need to remind at meetings for new and renewing members to fill out a form. Discussed organization methods for filing and recording of members. Suggested verbiage be added to the website similar to that on member form to note that by paying dues the member agrees to our charter and rules of membership for liability purposes. (need to find out if we can add an “i agree” type statement before the PayPal link.) — Board approved a measure that constitutes an “application” be on paper or via PayPal payment to begin or renew membership.
Membership Cards – Andy has the current list and will print cards and have them at the Feb meeting for pickup.
March Meeting – Date changed to March 9 from usual third Friday. Norwood is having their annual St. Pats parade on the 16th and this would interfere with our meeting date/time.
VP duties — discussed that are the specific duties expected of the VP? Decided it was to help promote the club activities and recruit organizers for club events.
New Business
Roxanne reminded about the Hofbrauhaus tapping on 2-29. BBL is official ‘Tapping Representative.’ Lots of Bloats needed to represent at the event. We will parade and support. Bosmo to be in attendance to tap the keg? 7pm, arrive by 6:30pm.
AHA talking points are under review by Roxanne W and Chris N regarding legal issues of transportation of homebrew in Ohio for carrying to competitions, etc. Brochures will be at Beerfest this weekend.
Germania Stein Auction is March 25 at Germania Society. 11am-6pm
Bloat Open Coordinator is needed. (Mark B has since stepped up to take on this role. Thanks Mark!)
Beer and Sweat Planning Meeting to be scheduled. Mark H. and Joshua E. have indicated they will step up and shadow Andy M. this year, then work together as Event Coordinators in 2013 and beyond. Mark B to be Comp Coordinator for 2012.
Discussed B&S Sponsorships — Is this something we want to investigate? Glass sponsor, Event sponsor, Flight sponsors, etc.? This will be discussed during the B&S planning meetings.
